Most of my life I’ve avoided Brussels sprouts. Funny enough though, once I did start eating them, I just can’t stop! I soon realized that the issue was not Brussels sprouts but actually the way they were being cooked that led to my displeasure in having them. I sincerely believe that keeping it simple is the key to a good Brussels sprouts recipe. Therefore you will see I keep making them over and over again. PREP TIME: 5 mins
COOK TIME: 10 mins
YIELDS: Serves 3
Ingredients
- Brussels sprouts 12 oz
- Purple onion 1, small, chopped
- Vegetable oil 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Pepper 2 tsp
- Onion powder 2 tsp
Method
- Heat oil. Put in onion and Brussels sprouts.
- Season with salt, pepper and onion powder.
- Sauté on a medium flame for 7-8 mins till it starts to caramelize.
- That’s it, you’re done.
Notes
My go-to Brussels sprouts is the Target Good & Gather washed, trimmed and ready to eat 16 oz bags which I either half or quarter depending on their size. It is perfect as most of the work is already done for you.
