I love simple food that can be put together quickly. I’ve been traveling a lot recently and therefore haven’t had the time to blog. After Pittsburgh, New York City and Daytona, FL in late November & early December last year, we went to Maui, Hawaii this February and then to Miami again. I think I need a vacation from my vacation! I have no plans of traveling any time soon so more recipes are coming! Also, I’m thinking of sharing some pictures from my travels under the Category Travels. What do you think? Would you like that? Let me know in the comments section below.
Coming back to this recipe, it is a quick one. I love my air fryer. I use it whenever I get a chance. In fact I tend to use it more than my oven. Of course, if you don’t have an air fryer you can either pan fry them or cook in the oven. That works too @sarchakra
PREP TIME: 10 mins
COOK TIME: 30 mins
YIELDS: Makes about 35 small meatballs
Ingredients
- Ground Pork 1lb
- Garlic 1 tbsp, minced
- Egg yolk 1
- Soy sauce 2 tbsp
- Chinese parsley ½ cup, chopped
- Breadcrumbs ½ cup
- Ginger powder 1 tsp
- Rice vinegar 1 tbsp
- Toasted sesame oil 1 tbsp
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Sauce
- Soy sauce 2 tbsp
- Rice vinegar 3 tbsp
- Hoisin sauce ¼ cup
- Ginger powder 2 tsp
- Onion powder 2 tsp
- Garlic 1 tbsp, minced
- White pepper powder 1 tsp
- Toasted sesame oil 2 tsp
Method
- To the ground pork add soy sauce, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, ginger powder, chopped Chinese parsley, rice vinegar, white pepper, onion powder, egg yolk and toasted sesame oil. Mix to combine well.
- Use a tbsp to measure out equal portions of meatballs from the pork mixture.
- Heat the air fryer to 380 °F. Grease the basket lightly. Place a few meatballs in the basket of the air fryer in an even layer without the meatballs touching each other.
- Cook for 12 minutes till cooked through and golden. Keep aside.
- Repeat for the rest of the meatballs.
- In a small pan add the sauce ingredients. Bring to a simmer till it thickens to desired consistency.
- Pour the sauce on the meatballs and stir.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds. Serve with jasmine rice or noodles.
Notes
For a Paleo version, use a combination of crushed cashews and almonds instead of the breadcrumbs.
