The Charcuterie Board I did for Thanksgiving this year was a fruit and vegetable one. I think Charcuterie Boards are works of art really and some of the work I see online are just absolutely stunning. This was my first attempt at making one. There is definitely an art to it and there are different kinds of cheeses that go with fruits etc. but this is a basic ‘whatever is available’ kinda board. Granted pepperoni and prochuitto would have looked good, but no one would eat that so I had to make this strictly vegetarian due to dietary restrictions. Check out how I made it @sarchakra
PREP TIME: 10 mins
COOK TIME: 0 min
YIELDS: Serves 5
Ingredients
The Cheeses
- Van Kaas Gouda Cheese
- Artigiano Aged Balsamic & Cipolline Onion
- Belgioioso Mascarpone Cheese
The Fruits
- Seedless Red Grapes
- Blueberries
- Red Delicious Apple, sliced
- Strawberries
- Pomegranate, broken
- Apricots
- Orange, sliced with peel
Jam
- Strawberry Jam
- Apple Jam
Mix both or keep it separate in small bowls.
Salty
- Roasted Almonds
- Ritz Crackers
The Vegetables
- Celery, cut into strips
- Carrots, cut into strips
- Medley Tomatoes, halved
- Mixed Mini Peppers, sliced
- Mini Cucumbers, cut into strips
Method
The method is pretty much simple. Arrange the fruits, vegetables and cheeses in a serving tray to make it look aesthetically pleasing. I would keep the salty cheeses next to the sweet fruits and the sweet cheeses next to the vegetables. Use orange slices to decorate the cheese blocks. The jam can be homemade or store bought, however you like it. Since it takes very little time to put together I would do it just before serving. And then, start nibbling 🙂
Notes
I’ve used whatever products I had in hand and none of the items listed are sponsored. Feel free to use any brand of cheese.
