Ingredients

  • Basmati rice 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Turmeric 1 tsp
  • Water 2 cups
  • Cooking oil 2 tbsp
  • Fried onion ¼ cup
  • Garlic 1 tbsp, minced
  • Ginger 2 tsp, grated
  • Shahi jeera (white cumin seeds) ½ tsp
  • Cinnamon stick 1
  • Whole peppercorns 1 tsp
  • Green cardamom pods 2-3
  • Black cardamom 1
  • Whole cloves 4
  • Bay leaf 1
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder 2 tsp
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • Tomato 1, chopped
  • Fresh coriander leaves 2 tbsp, chopped
  • Dried mint 1 tsp

Method

  • Wash the Basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Keep aside.
  • Turn on your Ninja Foodi and select the SAUTE function. Heat the cooking oil.
  • Add white cumin seeds, cinnamon stick, black and green cardamom pods, cloves, and bay leaf. Sauté for about a minute until the spices release their aroma.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • Add the chopped tomato. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until it starts to soften.
  • Mix in the salt, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala. Sauté for another minute to toast the spices.
  • Add the drained Basmati rice and the fried onions to the Ninja Foodi. Add the fresh coriander leaves and dried mint. Stir well to coat the rice with the aromatic mixture.
  • Pour in 2 cups of water and season with salt. Give it a gentle stir.
  • Close the Ninja Foodi lid and select the PRESSURE COOK function. Cook on low pressure for 5 minutes.
  • Once the cooking cycle is complete, allow the pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes. Then, manually release any remaining pressure.
  • Carefully open the lid, fluff the pulao with a fork.
  • Transfer the Ninja Foodie Pulao to a serving dish, and serve hot.
