Honey Walnut Shrimp

Who doesn’t like the delicious Honey Walnut Shrimp from Panda Express, right? The only problem is that you’ll be lucky to get 4 pieces of shrimp along with walnuts and broccoli taking over most of the space and it’s not cheap either! So here comes a copycat recipe so you can make this at home. @sarchakra

PREP TIME: 10 mins

COOK TIME: 20 mins

YIELDS: Serves or makes 4

Ingredients

  • Large shrimp 1 lb
  • Mayonnaise 1/2 cup
  • Honey 2 tbsp
  • Cream 2 tbsp
  • Walnuts ¾ cup
  • Sugar 1 cup
  • Water ½ cup
  • Eggs 2
  • Cornstarch 1 cup
  • Oil for frying

Method

  • Heat water and sugar. Let it come to a boil and thicken a bit to syrup consistency. Add walnuts. Simmer for 2 mins. Take the walnuts out and spread on a cookie sheet to dry.
  • Blot dry shrimp with kitchen towels. Season with salt and pepper. In a bowl beat eggs. In another bowl have the cornstarch ready. Dip each shrimp into beaten egg mixture and then into the cornstarch. Coat well.
  • Heat oil. Release shrimp gently into the hot oil and fry till golden on both sides. Drain on kitchen towels.
  • In a large bowl combine mayonnaise, honey and cream. Mix shrimp into the sauce and coat. Top with candied walnuts.
